That isn't quite the impression I got from this analysis.

Whether Lee "should have" resigned is actually a subtle question IMO. Against a relatively untested program such as AlphaGo, there is an argument for continuing to play even when theoretically lost, because the program could have bugs. Also, by playing on, Lee is in effect collecting more information about the machine's play that could in principle be useful later in the match.

On the other hand, resigning has the benefit of conserving energy for future games.
