Hi Scotty,
You have successfully found an opening White move (62S) that works, and a string of Blue moves that work (21D, 62D, 44B and 55B), given three other White moves that would properly dovetail. Unfortunately Fan, Fan, Fan, does not do it!
So far so good with 62S-21H (diagrammed below), but if White fans, it is a whopper for Blue to play 62D (13/11 13/7). Instead, he should play 62P (make his 5pt), which cooks the solution. Also, even if 63S-21H-F-62D were best, there is the matter that if White fans again, Blue should not play 44B (20pt + 9pt, which is -.042) but rather 44C (20pt + 4pt). And even if 63S-21H-F-62D-F-44B were best, then Blue should cash after White's third fan. Finally, even if White could continue the sequence by taking the cube, with his 55 Blue would not prime (a triple whopper), but rather would blitz for the gammon equity.
Starting over, you're on a legitimate track with 62S-21H (see diagram below), nice going. Now, what White move can you find that will prevent (or discourage) Blue from making his 5pt with 62? Then go from there. Good luck!
Up to this point, as did Mike and Rory, you have found a solution that works for problem 2 (which means you all automatically also solved problem 1). Now you're re-attempting stage 3, in the spirit of American Ninja Warrior. Ganbatte kudasai!
