Why not take two off? Well, we don't need to block them anymore; clearing points is more important. So 5/2 5/3 is worth a good look. Or 4/2 3/off to stay completely even-ended.
But 5/2 5/3 forces a blot after 44,55, or 66, while ripping off two doesn't leave any immediate blotting rolls. (5/off blots with 65)
My rule of thumb is to take a checker off any time I'm not sure, so I'll rip off two.
3/off 2/off
