Neil coming in first every time proves what I have always said about backgammon: the better players get all the luck.

Very well-run event and wonderful hospitality and a very nice group of people to play with.

We missed Keene and Jack who were there last time and had to cancel at the last minute.

I do believe that all BMS events around the world should use the same rules so there is a level playing field, however. This event used the ABT rules with non-legal moves as well as other ABT rules not used in other BMS events and not used in most tournaments around the world. While I was not happy to see this, I would rather play in an event with rules I don't like than not play at all. I feel the same way about clocks and baffle boxes...much rather have them, but not worth giving up playing my favorite game.

I hope I live long enough to see some international standards for all events, even if I don't agree with all of the rules, it would be nice to see backgammon have what every other legitimate game and sport has...international standards, rules, and organization. And preferably, those standards and rules will be set by the players (federations) and not at the whim of each tournament director.
