my goal is to get around and win, "ahead in the race then race" so 17-7. 1(2) might work and we do need to get him out of our hair eventually. But that leaves a stripped position and 4/5 or 2/5 as a return looks risky. I'm not sure if it is too risky. So since I'm not sure I'll go with "ahead in the race then race".
