if you play 5/2 you next 5 rates to cause major problems anyhow, and you're also in bad shape if the opp just enters with a 3 (thus you don't like any of the 20 entering numbers anyhow).

Much better is just to hit the 2nd checker (again leaving 20 good numbers for the opp) gaining lots when he dances (16 times) and hoping to keep together a 4 pt board while escaping the back checker.

Sometimes when you get hit after 6/3x you still win, either by escaping both checkers quickly or by making an anchor and winning later.
