Sorry for the *NM* post here. I do not know why my text disappeared. I think we have no choice between hitting and making the 5 point. If we do not make the point now, it will be very hard to do this. Otherwise if the opponent falls to make his golden point, we have a good chance to hit next time. Thats also the reason why I prefer splitting over down. The opponent did already split, so a blot on the 11 is more vulnerable.
