I see this as a choice between advancing our anchor and making the 2pt.

  • Advance anchor and slot 2pt – 21/18(2), 8/2
  • Make 2pt – 8/2(2)

Given the more-than-50-pip deficit we face, it is tempting to stay back on the 21pt. If we do that, however, the Dilly Builders won't be leaving any shots next turn unless they roll a 6. On the other hand, if we stay back, and they do roll a 6, the most we would usually get is a single direct shot.

On the following roll, we would be forced to run off either the 21pt or 16pt.

For reasons of timing, therefore, I prefer advancing to the 18pt on this turn. If we get a shot, it will often be a double shot.

21/18(2), 6/2

Mike
