There's not much to explain. It's not unusual that there is a notable difference between the VR and the MWC difference as given by the conventional analysis. To understand that, you probably will have to study what VR is. The formulas you quote have basically nothing to do with it. I always prefer to use the VR as (Result - DeltaCostLuck). I don't care for the formula used in the luck-based rating at all.
