I can't (easily) find an explanation of the scoring system for the Giants.

Here's what I'm guessing based on what I think I remember reading somewhere a long time ago. If John Doe is voted number 1 on a ballot then he receives 32 points; if he is voted number 2 then he receives 31 points. If he is voted number 32 then he receives one point. John Doe's points are summed over all ballots. Candidates are ranked in decreasing order of total number of points. Equivalently, candidates are ranked in decreasing order of the average number of points they received per ballot, where "per ballot" includes all ballots, even those on which John Doe did not appear.

The vertical axis of your graph, if I understand correctly, represents a similar score except that the averaging is done only over the ballots on which John Doe appeared.

Is this correct?
