We're loosing many gammons after either play. So I'd just go with the bold 6/3* as I expect it to win more enough games to compensate for some additional gammons.

I'd estimate the hit to win ca. 30% with opp having about 2/3 of his wins as gammons, so ca. 46% gammon losses for us. And the passive alternatives to win ca. 22-24% with opp having about 1/2 of his wins as gammons, so ca. 39% gammon losses for us. So the trade-off between wins and gammon losses looks to be close to 1:1 to me.
