I made that very mistake in a match against David Levy last month. Ahead at something like 3-away/5-away, I recubed to 4 in a match to 7. The position was similar to Tim's, a non-contact race that would have been a pass in an unlimited game. David later said the take was easy; the recube, automatic.

It cost me the match!
