In the unlikely event that you are playing against a dice mechanic who switches different dice in and out of the game, when you use one set of dice, you will be rolling with the mechanic's dice before he is able to switch them out. So if, for instance, a dice cheat switches in some dice that favor doublets, you will both get a chance to use those dice before he can switch them out.

David's reasons, of course, are more important. As far as I know, I have never played with a dice mechanic.
