Assume that the checker that is split is hit loose. After 24/20 13/7: Entering 6s make the 7, entering 5s hit, entering 4s hit. After 24/18 13/9: Entering 6s hit, entering 4s make the 9, entering 5s don't do a thing.

I also think that after 24/20, hitting aces share the strip the 6, whereas after 24/18, hitting 6s develop the stack. (Hitting 3s 8/5* and hitting 1s 8/7* cancel each other out).

Finally, if the checker brought down is hit and we enter and hit nothing but consolidate, we have more pressure against the White blots after 13/7 than after 13/9.

I think these are the main factors why the one split and not the other.
