If I'd really outfoxed myself for this many turns, I wouldn't put it past myself to double in a fit of confusion, but in a normal frame of mind my thinking (as opposed to emotive drooling over the juicy blotches) would be that since I can almost always cash if things go badly, I should play on. Hoover 'em up! I hope that if things went well I'd remember not to say to myself, "If only I'd doubled, then a gammon would have won the match for me." Of course, the most fun would be to win an undoubled backgammon.
