After 4, 1 the opponent has only one good doublet to escape [44] and will stay with everything else. After 4, 1 when it gets back around to us we have an ass ugly [65], [61] is no bargain, and some of the other fives are fairly awful too. We also succeeded in getting zero crossovers which is ultimately what we want to do. Get them in and start ripping them off.
After clearing the 8pt, 6, 4, the opponent has two good doublets [44 55] opposed to one and will stay with everything else. After 6, 4 when it gets back around to us we have only [62 61] which leave a shot or play ugly. That's far fewer than the other play. With this play we have taken the two crossovers and with any luck we'll bring the other two men in soon and start ripping.
I would play 6, 4. I think some people may be seeing this as a we're trying to trap the opponent off the anchor type play. We aren't, that's not the point to this position.
