I would rather that the opponent not anchor, but the point is that if the opponent anchors then our equity is higher than if the remaining two checkers were already on the 1pt. However, this depends on being able to squeeze maximum equity out of that situation. There are some tricky run-or-stay decisions involved—do you stay back so that if the opponent rolls an ace, you'll be ready to hit from the bar? Or do you need more outfield coverage so that you can pounce if the opponent rolls a 6 instead?
