The 102% oxymoron

I read this post a couple of days ago, and I'm still scratching my head as to what kind of stories you are seeking. Yes, I did say that about the spinach, but it was in reference to coming in #33 in the Giant 32 a few cycles back. If I'd eaten more spinach, maybe I'd have gotten a little bigger! (Best way to eat spinach: palak paneer, definitely, whether it's a holiday or not.)
Sometimes the luck factor is at least somewhat meaningful, but other times it can mislead badly. For one example, often the luck factor using "equities" display goes the opposite direction from when you switch to "cost". In matches, "cost" is more meaningful, but almost everyone quotes the equity one instead.
For another example, suppose you are playing against an opponent you already know seldom sees a cube he doesn't like, so even at, say, 4a3a you wait and wait to cube, racking up increasingly large errors and blunders as you go, till you finally double when it's too good and he takes. You then gammon him for the match. It will say you were luckier (of course; that's how you got to the good position where he took, and then brought the gammon home!) but also that your opponent outplayed you, since he only made that one mistake with the cube while you accumulated multiple errors adding up to a lot more equity with all those "missed doubles". He can then complain about that to anyone who will listen, but if he'd just passed that awful cube, he'd have been at 3a3a and who knows? His bad luck might have turned to good from there, and the bot would have said he both outplayed and out-lucked you.
I don't use the luck factor for anything except to make myself feel better when I lose, since usually it will say I was at least a little unlucky. That's not a productive use of time, but it's cheaper and less fattening than eating a cinnamon roll instead >>
