How fast can you count the pips?

That's a lot better though my original posting did assume a normal backgammon position where you'd want/need to know the pip count. These examples don't qualify and while I know you could create very difficult positions where we would also need to know the pip count, I'm talking about your run of the mill 99% of positions that come up and we want to know the count.
