This is a "next". The fundamental in positions such as these (51 to hit once or twice) is to hit twice with four or more on the eight and hit once with exactly three. Retaining a spare on the eight and developing a stack of five on the midpoint has greater value than the second hit. Retaining a second spare does not. That's what this choice is about, the spares. It is usually explained wrong and often played wrong.
