Using the default rollouts with their lowly settings tend to just introduce candidates. It's unwise to rely on them for the definitive best play. Applying logic to maybe the wrong answer does not produce a good learning curve. Surprisingly often in complex positions a deep analysis will produce two descent candidates. An aggressive and a passive play. At that moment in time the equity difference is often small and consequently cannot guarantee to have a real effect on the final outcome. There are many different forces in play in backgammon.
