I suggest to play this out a number of times to feel the impact of Blue's prime and the three checkers that White has back, positioned deep. Also the score is a factor, with an equal number of home board points, 9 checkers in the zone, and Blue having two back with one on the bar, White will win a significant percentage of gammons when he wins. At the score, this means that on a recube to 4, there will be significant overage, so White will not get as much out of holding the cube as for money and hence will not win as often as for money. Double, take for money, and double, drop here.
