Some times ago I looked for obvious reasons at CUDA and Brooks and the like. There are quite some obstacles
- currently just 32-bit float. That precision might not enough.
- the programming model is quite different, Pretty exotic

And never forget Amdahls Law. When you have serial parts you gains are limited. I personally think a PS3 as a "coprocessor" would be a better choice. With a couple of PS3 you have for little money incredible power (but the synergistic units are 32-bit only too). nevertheless when I have some weeks sparetime I might be inclined.....
