In Response To: Another Tournament passes by and again no results posted (Michael Mesich)

Tournament results aren't necessarily posted here though I'll usually put some updates here, and elsewhere, for tournaments that I attend. And we, at San Antonio, always announce streaming matches here and elsewhere also.

I know running a tournament -- particularly a well-received first tournament -- is somewhat overwhelming with much to do and much to learn, and we learn there is not near enough time to do half of it during the tournament.

With San Antonio we do a lot of prep work well in advance. This year our online bracket updates were announced one month in advance with links ready to go. We posted this information; streaming information; general pictures; and pictures with winners, trophies, and more on our tournament website and on tournament, USBGF, and ABT Facebook pages throughout the event. It is a lot of work but with a bit of experience and travel up the learning curve it gets easier with time.

The first time is the worst time. Congratulations on what by all reports was a very nice event. Wish I could have made it but had both sons in town for the first time in a long time.

I'm sure your tournament will only grow, mature, and improve next year and for years to come. It will get easier and you'll become more comfortable with organizing and directing. I know you learned a lot.

The first couple of weeks of decompression after a big tourney are often accompanied by thoughts of why in the hell you put yourself through this. But a month from now you can rightfully look back with pride and begin eagerly anticipating the planning and improvements for next year.

Hats off to you and April. Job well done. People really appreciate your efforts. Even the occasional comments that seem harsh are typically well meant constructive criticism. It's just not always well conveyed.
