It's fair to say more thinking time is an advantage to the better player. Thus better players will be more likely to win matches that use a fast-roll device. (I have no idea how to quantify it.) In addition to the lesser player in that match being at a disadvantage, so are the players in the other matches; the winners of those matches are more likely to face a better opponent.
If a device saves, say, two seconds per roll, then why not reduce the delay time by two seconds? It solves the problem I described and it makes the tournament move faster.
