Who is the best ...

Phil Laak is a great poker player, I don't think his backgammon game is that exceptional
he [Mike Sall] is a very decent backgammon player
The emphasis in bold is mine. We need to use something more descriptive than one's own personal adjectives of 'decent' or 'good' if possible. What is exceptional to you? What is decent? A rough PR estimate would do the trick I think.
Go? No question it's Nack
I don't know much about go and I know Nack is excellent for an American but from what I understood when the subject came up here many eons ago is that Nack is far removed from the top level players in go. There are likely players from China, Japan, or Korea who may play backgammon decently and excel at go.
Kit and Neil don't do poker. They both play bridge to a high degree of success and Neil came in just under 2200 (I think) at his top form in chess.
There is a French backgammon/chess player that likely takes down that category. I'll have to find his name.
