"Wrong Corner" trick

Nack. I doubt there is any idea in backgammon that you could not improve. The way your mind works is a marvel. I appreciate your comments and ideas, as always, very much.

First, the reason I have the bearoff on the right is because most people who play on line, particularly beginners and intermediates, play that way as that is the way the server is oriented. The players here on BGOnline are pretty much highly advanced and open players, so I'm not worried about the orientation for them. (In fact, I think the BGOnline diagrams should bear off on the right!)

Second, I appreciate your compliments on my presentations. The reason I have gone to videos instead of articles is that I have found that more people like to watch a video and listen to a voice than read an article, so I reach more people with videos. Also, I believe that the ability to move the checkers around and hit the buttons on XG also show people how to use XG as a learning tool, and they enjoy that.

And on that subject, I think it's a shame that your ideas don't reach a much wider audience than just the people on this forum. For example, I would love to do a follow-up video with you where you show your ideas by moving the checkers. I think it would be much easier for people to grasp your ideas if we set up the position and instead of just mentally shifting the checkers, we actually move them.

So please do a video of your own, or if you like, we can get on line together and I'll do the video with you.

And I am sure you could do many more videos that would be very exciting to the backgammon community. I get a pretty large following on my YouTube channel; I have about 5,000 friends on facebook (largely backgammon), and I use my mailing list of close to 400 enthusiasts and friends.

And of course, I also post on USBGF for all of its members--about 250 of my videos are there for the membership and I'd love to include some from you.

By the way, 7 years ago I interviewed you, and it is now archived on BKGM.com for anyone interested (under Phil Simborg interviews). Maybe it's time for an update? And since you're not competing publicly in backgammon, it would be interesting to get your thoughts on other games, comparing backgammon skills to other game skills, and your thoughts about how to improve and promote backgammon today.
