1) Going for 2 seems right. Reasoning: if you get the 2, then you know you only need one touchdown, whereas if you don't get the 2, then you know you need two possessions, and can play accordingly (onside kicks/use of timeouts/etc.).

2) Despite the massive QF, I think you're supposed to go for 1 and try to win in OT.
