Keene says: I am surprised the gammon rate isn't higher - expected gammon win situations all end up with 3 on the bar vs a closed board, and 3 additional crossovers too. So, 51% gammons seems low to me - I would have estimated around 65-70% gammon wins personally. Of course, whenever white enters, blue isnt going to be hitting it loose to close it out unless legally required to, so there is that piece of the process of closing the board.

Well you can't win a g on any of the 28% when you lose the game, right? Also the 8 cube gammon value is about 1/8 so Blue won't be taking many chances in the bearoff to get some extra g's.
