Well the original problem was mine and obvious. Even so, I was the benefactor of knowing the difference in plays when looking at your variant. I was still confident in making the 8pt in your first variant however, once again I've seen that ++ analysis so I get to look at your second variant with a lot more information than a blank slate. Spoiler: Given the this and the that it seems like they should be close. FWIW I'd make the 8pt to be stubborn across all three problems.
