Blue is Player 1XGID=-bb---D-C---dD---c-d---BB-:0:0:1:00:0:0:3:0:10 What was Blue's last play?
I could not find a last roll and play to get to the NG starting position. This 61 was not on my screen (I would play 18 and 13 OTB).
It takes practice. Noting some of the challenges, as you have done, is the first step. Next, you'll know better where to look and what to try and you'll be solving those challenges, bit by bit.
In addition to 61z, I believe XGR++ supports 51z (24/23 13/8), Also worth exploring are 63R (22/13), 21B (15/13 9/8), 61Z or 52Z (15/8), 51Z or 42B (14/8) and maybe 41D (13/8, -.002).
Consider, too, rolls that bring two checkers to a blotted 8pt: 658 (14/8 9/8), 628 (14/8 10/8), 618 (14/8 9/8), 538 (14/8 11/8), 528 (13/8 10/8), 518 (13/8 10/8), 328 (11/8 10/8) and 218 (11/8 9/8); granted, a longer retro-sequence is projected.
Other tries are entering moves such as 62z (bar/23 14/8), 52z (bar/23 13/8, 51z (bar/24 13/8), 21L (bar/23 9/8 or bar/24 10/8) and 21R (bar/23 14/13). At first, one might think they require White to have previously hit on Blue's own 1pt or 2pt (difficult to satisfy), but actually hit-and-lift to a stripped 8pt looks like a workable back-path to me.
