You must be the current Copyright owner, then? Even if so, the licensing under which GNUBG was released at the relevant time would still be in force.

To keep this discussion from degrading into semantics, let's say "violated software licensing" instead of "stole from software", since the license allowed him to "take from your software", incorporate into his and sell it for money, as long as he released his software under the same licensing.

You are in no position to make such a determination.

I take this as your admission that "he did it" but he shouldn't be questioned because "he did it in good faith".

No reason for you folks to go into panic mode. We just would like to know, either way, and nothing more.
