Which tournament format is the best?

I like a lot the European team championship format with 7 swiss rounds and the semifinals between the first four. For individual tournaments it depends on the number of players, I don't like the Gibraltar format where after 7 swiss a sheet with 32 players is made and if you lose one you are out. With a big number of players I think the double elimination format is the best.
