I see it as a better way of spending/investing that one pip than 7/6.

If by some miracle blue hits on the next roll, it will have one more point instead of one more blot.

Also, half of the rolls (1,2,3) which will fail blue to escape, will play better to make its 4 and 6 points.

I don't think I need to look ahead any further for this decision, nor could I for not being a world class player or a bot... :(
