True the Captains doubling point can be come lower, and the box's take point for the captain could be lower, if he is taking solely to stay in the box, but these strategies are only decreasing your equity. There is more potential profit being in the box, but more potential loss too. I've heard arguments that being in the box has negative equity.

Personally I like the fact that the take points for the captain can change...depending on who the captain and the box are. That's part of what makes chouette's fun. Just like when you have cubes on both sides of the board, or some that haven't been shipped yet...you have crew members suggesting checker plays that suit their cube position, but the play might not be correct for someone else's cube.
