Monte Carlo/Cannes

Adam --
The Hotel Diana in Monte Carlo is a good low budget option in MC -- I found the walk to be only 7-8 minutes and the place old but clean. The a/c worked and you can get a room with private toilet/shower. Can't beat the price -- I paid 55 Euros last year.
In Cannes a low budget option is the Little Palace Hotel. It is very near the train station but a walk to the bus route and a bus ride to the playing site. Play is at a casino with no hotel so you have to pretty much ride the bus or take a cab wherever you stay. The bus is cheap, clean, and prompt -- stops running about 11 pm or so though as I recall. The Little Palace is much newer, nicer, and rooms a bit larger than the Hotel Diana. Good a/c, larger baths, etc. Very clean place. No hotel amenities whatsoever -- the entrance is just a doorway among a bunch of shops and cafes. The 'reception desk' is very small area and then all rooms are upstairs. Husband/wife own and operate it and they live on premises. You have to have a code to enter the front door so it is safe and secure. Again, I paid about 55 Euros last year.
Regards, Bill
