Just to be clear, the new (2018) valid roll rule does not contain the word "flat", so it is no longer actually a question of whether the die is flat or not flat. Under the new rule, the die is invalid if it is falling between the checkers or supported by a vertical surface. If it is not obvious by eye, the test for validity for any of your pictures is very simple. Slide the checkers on which the die is resting ever so slightly away from the wall. The die, if valid, should come away cleanly from the wall along with the checkers it is on. If instead, the die falls or remains in contact with the wall, it is cocked.
