Maybe I got the wrong impression of the Diana--the room they showed me was pretty awful, but perhaps that's why nobody was in it. I'm skeptical that most folks could walk there from the Fairmont in 7-8 minutes--it's pretty far uphill. Is it near a municipal elevator? Or are you a secret sherpa?

Thanks for the suggestion re: Cannes. Carter had mentioned that renting an apartment can be a good deal, too. That idea has a bit of appeal, because then we could have some meals "at home". I'm trying to get in touch with him to see if he has any specific suggestions--
