Unified rules: aspiration vs. reality in the USA

These questions were all answered in my post.
We started from the European rules. So of course we read them.
We didn't go with them exactly as-is because US directors refused to use a 20 page rule set. It therefore had to be rewritten entirely. Why did we make any rule changes whatsoever? Because US tournament directors wanted to collaborate on the rules. Because the public wanted to collaborate on the rules. Because there were many good ideas on how the rules could be improved further. The European rules originally began with the US rules. Why did the Danes change the US rules instead of simply going with those rules as-is and unifying on a common set of rules? Because there was room for improvement. Why did the UK not simply unify and use the Danish rules? Because there was room for improvement. Why did the EUBGF not simply use the UK rules? Because there was room for improvement. So suddenly there is no more room for improvement? We, and the US directors and the dozens of players that made thoughtful proposals believed otherwise.
