There are exactly two options allowed out of the entire rule set. And one is an entirely new rule on which there is insufficient experience, so flexibility is surely warranted.

In essence you are saying - in spite of all the reasons I laid out on why we couldn't simply take the European Rules and ram it down the throats of US directors, we should have ignored that reality and done that anyway.
