I like the double hit. After the double hit, blue is hit on 11/36 rolls, in which case he's not happy, but is not out of it by any means. White really doesn't have much going for him on his side of the board. His position is stripped, and he won't be doing much effective attacking any time soon. When missed, however, blue is a favorite to cover the blot on the 4 point and become a big favorite in the game. If blue is not hit on the 4 point, he'll have a huge racing lead, he'll have lots of rolls that cover the blot, and several non-covering rolls to make the bar point anchor. I count 28/36 rolls which either cover the 4 point or make the anchor. White can't attack effectively, so his only real hope right now is to try to prime blue. Making the anchor prevents this, and blue is ahead in the race even after being hit on his 4 point or bar point. Further, a complete dance by white, which occurs 1/9 of the time, would give blue a crushing position. There is a lot of upside for the double hit, and I think it's enough to take the risk.
