I don't know what it does to come up with that number

It's very simple. What XG reports as my luck is the difference (my luck)-(opponent's luck) in gnubg terms.

We do need the effect of Luck separate for each player.

What for? I think it is natural to view my opponents' bad luck when they're on roll as my good luck. Yes, there is a loss of information when going from gnubg reporting style to XG reporting style, but I fail to see how that which is lost there could be of any importance.
