Is it important just *when* luck happens in a match?

Is it important *when* luck happens?
For example, I might have had more luck in games when the cube is on one. My opponent might have had his share of the luck in the games when the cube was on higher values. Or when Gammons / Backgammons were at stake.
In this case, given we both played at the same PR, is it possible for me to have had more overall, total luck than my opponent but lose the match because his luck came at times when the cube was on, say, 4 or when games were won with gammons and bgs? Or are these 'game value' factors already taken into account by the luck calculation presented to us at the end of the match?
