I don't play tournament chess so am not sure what your point is.

Is it that in tournament chess such a board is illegal and is similar to my point about backgammon? If so I agree.

Is it that in tournament chess such a board is legal and you think that the numbered board should be legal in backgammon also? If so I disagree, the rules of chess are not relevant.

Or is it another point?
