Tourney resistance to computer improvements

Put a clock on all matches and leave the game alone !!!!
I really get tired of all the people wanting to change a great game.
Leave the game alone.
Put clocks on matches. It's quite easy to finish a 9 or 11 pt match in 1.5 or 2 hours -- oftentimes less. I played several 15 pointers last weekend -- without a clock -- and none exceeded 1.75 hours.
Thus the slow players can gear up or quit. They are the problem with slow tournament progression. Several years ago we ultimately just had to, in effect, ask a guy in Houston to quit playing -- he was slower than slow and it was adversely affecting tournament attendance. He could play a 7 or 9 point match into 3-4 hours in a heartbeat.
Non-counters can gear up or quit -- or do without the benefits derived from counting and other calculations.
I think playing on a live board adds greatly to the excitement of a match and adds significant psychological aspects to head-to-head live play. Is there sometimes intimidation and gamesmanship? Sure. All the better. It's part of the game and part of live tournaments. There are reads/tells over a live board which can easily influence play.
It's like some people being against the recording of matches -- there goes the computer recording idea.
Do we really want tournament matches in private cubicles, unrecorded, maybe with a shield so you can't see the opponent other than his/her hands rolling dice and moving checkers? I don't think so.
As you can tell I can get fired up over some of these things. I'd better just shut up before I further(?) offend some.
