If you stay for the shot 7/4 6/5 is better than 6/2. It helps for running off the gammon and there is not much downside if any since it would usually be a cash (maybe not after sequences starting with white 31) for white from the bar after getting hit. The way to look at this then is just swinging gammon losses to singles losses or gammon losses to backgammon losses. If you "run" there is still another choice to make. How much time is on the clock?
