I think from the very beginning I used the term "effective" sorry if it wasn't clear what I meant, but I thought everybody knewthat the most basic recipe to lose a backgame is to bury checkers-especially on the ace point. If you revive those 2 checkers (without moving them to the 5 point) the position for blue is still not very effective for a backgame but you may get a marginal redouble.
