The difference of half a PR point at low PRs is enormous just like tennis. In tennis of course that skill difference results in win, win, win because it's a game of near pure skill and in backgammon that PR difference amounts to very little when speaking of winning chances. Still, the skill differential is gigantic and the comparison is valid.

How much work do you think it would take a 3.5 PR player to go to a 3 PR? For some I believe it's near impossible. Having taught an onslaught of people much like yourself I've found some people have it, others don't. Sure, everyone can improve and greatly. Anyone who is truly interested in the game and puts in the work can probably get to a 4 PR but there are some that no matter how much work or effort they put into the game they aren't going to come close to breaking into the upper echelon of Giants. Again, this is much like tennis where the top 3 players simply have something that the others don't.
