as you say, there aren't going to be any forced blots, plus getting hit is much worse than before, and even if white is forced to leave a shot later (unlikely) the difference between 2 points away and one point away is only one shot.

Granted, that's also true of white's chances to hit right away, but I don't think the payoff is worth leaving 12 shots instead of 11.
