Although I used a money game situation, the actual match was more involved. Ed was leading 8-4 to 21 and was holding an 8 cube. He didn't slot, and he (correctly, according to XG) didn't redouble. Although in a money game, Stick's analysis is certainly correct, in the match situation, Ed should have slotted because the game was not locked up.
